I graduated in Summer 2013 with a double major in Japanese and Linguistics. In April 2014 I became a Research Student at University of Tokyo Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Department of Language and Information Sciences through the Japanese Ministry of Education and Technology Research Scholarship. Under the guidance of Sociolinguist Dr. Kazuko Matsumoto, I prepared for and passed the graduate school entrance exam and will begin the master's program this April. I will be researching contact linguistics and language use and identity among the descendants of a Japanese immigrant speech community in Australia.
