2007 DEALL Undergraduate ForumForum proposal submission [PDF]

Show off your skills and knowledge in Chinese, Japanese or Korean! Open up opportunities for yourself!

All seniors who are majoring in Chinese, Japanese or Korean are cordially invited to submit a proposal for the 2007 DEALL Undergraduate Forum, to be held in Hagerty 180 from 3:30 to 6:45 P.M. on March 9th, the last day of classes in Winter Quarter 2007. This Forum will provide senior majors the opportunity to demonstrate and share the skills and knowledge acquired in DEALL and will make it possible to:

  1. receive direct guidance from a faculty mentor on the project that you present at the Forum;
  2. expand the project presented at the Forum for entry in other larger forums and competitions (e.g. OSU Denman Undergraduate Research Forum, East Asian Studies’ Writing Competition);
  3. satisfy a first step for earning Graduation with Distinction on your diploma (for more on this, see the DEALL Honors Advisor, Dr. Naomi Fukumori).

The project may take the form of a research paper, a poster presentation, or a multimedia or Web-based presentation. Please note the following eligibility requirements.
  1. Presentations must be based on work produced between Spring Quarter 2006 and Winter Quarter 2007 in any one of DEALL’s advanced level courses.
  2. Presentations must be based on work produced under the direct guidance of a faculty mentor. Prior to the Forum, presenters must get in touch with their mentors to receive final approval of their projects.
  3. Presenters must be of senior standing at the time of the Forum, with plans to graduate no later than Summer Quarter 2007.
  4. Presenters must have paid their University fees by the time of their presentation.
Proposals for presentation should include the following:
  1. Your name
  2. Project title
  3. The course in which your project was/will be developed
  4. The name of the professor who taught/will teach that course
  5. A statement of 300 words or less that clearly introduces and defines your project
February 2, 2007 is the deadline for submission of your proposal to the Undergraduate Assessment Committee, Attn: Dr. Shelley Quinn, Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures, 398 Hagerty Hall.
