Practicum in East Asian Languages and Cultures

Prerequisite:

High-level competency in the target East Asian language (Chinese or Japanese)
and permission of instructors. Ability to handle English at graduate level
is assumed.

The aim of this course is to develop the ability to plan and implement classroom
activities based on pedagogical principles discussed in EALL 700 and the
presentation of language discussed in EALL 703. Participants will gain performative
knowledge of how to present and practice linguistic forms and functions of
Chinese/Japanese, and to train learners to perform in Chinese/Japanese.

Course grades will be determined on the basis of the following:
Teaching plans, implementation, and critique (approximately 60%)
Homework and quizzes (approximately 10%)
Same as EALL 700, plus materials used in language programs.
