Announcement: Chinese Language Scholarships for Graduating Seniors Attending OSU Fall 2009

March 19, 2009

The Chinese Flagship Program at the Ohio State University is pleased to announce the availability of merit-based scholarships for intensive Chinese language study in the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures Summer Programs East Asian Concentration (SPEAC). These scholarships are worth up to the full amount of in-state tuition; housing costs remain the responsibility of the student.

Students applying for the first-level intensive Chinese language program (C-1) who meet the following criteria will automatically be considered for these Flagship Student Scholarships:
  • High school senior graduating this year
  • Will attend Ohio State in autumn 2009. Please submit a copy of your OSU acceptance letter with your SPEAC application.
In C-1, learners complete all 15 credits of OSU first-year Chinese in 9 summer quarter weeks. Students who have taken Chinese in high school will still find the program challenging and helpful for accelerating their Chinese study at OSU.

EXTENDED APPLICATION DEADLINE
Students now have until April 1st to submit their applications for C-1. Applications can be downloaded at: http://deall.osu.edu/programs/summerPrgm/schedule.cfm.

SPEAC program questions may be addressed to speac@osu.edu; scholarship questions may be addressed to Patrick McAloon, OSU Chinese Flagship undergraduate program manager, at mcaloon.1@osu.edu.
