Chinese Minor Program
The minor in Chinese consists of a set of prerequisites and 30 hours of course work beyond the stated prerequisites. The purpose of the prerequisites is to give students a language and fundamental culture basis upon which to build an understanding of China The courses beyond the prerequisites are intended to provide substantial training in the Chinese language and further cultural understanding. Selections of courses are to be made with the advice and counsel of an adviser, and students should be aware that not all of the courses that are available for the minor are offered every year so that early and careful planning is advised.
Prerequisites: (20 hrs.)
- C101.01, 102.01, 103.01 or their SPEAC or II equivalents and
C231 or 232
Requirements: (20 hrs.)
- (C210, 310, 510) or (C211, 311, 511) or (C210, 211 and 310 or 311) and
C251, 501, 502, 503, or 504
Electives: (10 hrs.)
- C501, 502, 503, 504, 514, 601, 602, 603, EALL 683, or Chinese language courses
not taken in fulfillment of the language requirement.
NOTE: Students in this minor must have their minor program approved by the Undergraduate Director.
