Abstract: Join Mike Bierschenk and Ying Zhang for an introduction to teaching online courses. We will discuss the possibilities inherent in online teaching, as well as the difficulties, then Bierschenk will introduce a variety of ways that instructors translate their in-person teaching strategies and content into approaches that work in an online space without sacrificing student engagement and quality of teaching. Zhang, who is currently teaching online courses in the Dept. of History (Premodern East Asian and China), will share her experiences working with the various support services available to instructors, designing assignments with East Asian digital material, as well as her experiences teaching students in an online environment.

Free and Open to the Public

This East Asian Studies Center event is co-sponsored by the Institute for Chinese Studies This workshop is supported by a U.S. Department of Education Title VI grant to The Ohio State University East Asian Studies Center.
