The answer is yes, and definitely so in a foreign (Japanese) language classroom. In this talk, the speaker will explain why it is now imperative to learn a foreign language to succeed in the 21st century and how you as a student can take the most advantage of it. Bio: Mr. Hideki Hara is currently serving as Director of the The Japan Foundation, Los Angeles.  Since joining the Foundation in 1991 he has held a number of positions at its offices in Tokyo and Osaka, as well as serving as Deputy Director of the Foundation’s Center for Global Partnership in New York (2001-2005). From 2006 to 2009 he was seconded to the National Graduate Research Institute for Policy Studies as Director of Research Development and International Affairs and facilitated numerous international research projects. Mr. Hara holds an MA in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Waterloo, in Ontario, Canada. Career Event Series: This is the first event of EASC’s two-part career event series in Autumn 2019.
