2013 DEALL LangFest a huge success

The 2013 DEALL Language Festival was held on Friday, April 19 at Hamilton Hall 107. A record number of 17 courses from the Chinese, Japanese, and Korean programs presented films, live skits, songs, and dance performances (photo: performance by Japanese 5102).  Although the event lasted more than four hours, the classroom was packed, and the audience all enjoyed the impressive and often funny performances by the students. One of the highlights was the interpretation shootout. The students of Levels 1 and 2 Chinese, Japanese, and Korean courses competed, and the Korean teams won four matches out of six. Dean Garett Heysel from the College of Arts and Sciences and Prof. Mari Noda, DEALL Chair, gave us a few words at the end, and the event was followed by an Asian food reception. The organizers of this very successful event would like to thank Prof. Karen Mancl and the Chinese Culture Connections for cooking yummy Asian food.
