Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Upload Host Family Letter

Instructions

Write a letter of introduction in your target language (or in English, if you a complete beginner) to be given to your host family. Tell them about your hobbies, interests, and background (family, academic, childhood, etc.) You could also dicuss what you want to learn about, do, and/or see in the host country. Your letter should be hand written.

If you are a beginning student, write as much as you can in your program language and the rest in English. Remember, host families may not speak English, so it would be good to look up and include a few basic words in your program language, such as greeting, closings, and other common terms.

If you are an intermediate or advanced student, please write entirely in your program language, but do not worry if your writing is not perfect. Remember, host families are interested in knowing as much as possible about you prior to your arrical. They understand that you are coming to learn the language and do not expect you to be fluent.

You can upload your host family letter on the Host Family Information Form. Please make sure that you upload the letter in .pdf file format.
