DEALL Welcomes New DEALL Faculty, Staff and Students

This academic year, DEALL was fortunate to welcome a new cohort of faculty, teaching staff, and graduate students. In their honor, the Department hosted a Welcome Reception with over 35 people in attendance.
DEALL chair Patricia Sieber observes that “the next generation of young scholars—no matter whether they are faculty, teaching staff, or graduate students--are at the heart of what we do as a department. We feel incredibly excited about all the ways that the newest members of our community will expand our conversations about pedagogy, technology, and research.”
This year, DEALL welcomed Assistant Professor Dr. Olan Munson, the inaugural occupant of the Chris Lee Endowed Professorship in Korean, a position made possible by the generosity of Dr. Chris Lee. Meanwhile, long-time DEALL lecturer Dr. Nancy Tewksbury joined DEALL in her new capacity as Assistant Professor of Teaching.
Ayumi Naraoka joined DEALL as a new lecturer. DEALL is also fortunate to be the destination for many returning lecturers and senior lecturers, who are the lifeblood of DEALL’s teaching community: Makyala Cherry, Kwang Hee Hong, Hyun Jin Lee-Miller, Han Kim, Teppei Kiyosue, Perry Miller, Stephanie Thomas, and Yeonjin Yun.
Ten new graduate students have become part of DEALL’s graduate student community. Five students are first-time Buckeyes: Qingke Sun, Ruofan Wang, Lulu Yuan, Xiao Zeng, and Huiyi Zhang. Four students joined the PhD program after having completed an MA degree in DEALL either recently or some years ago: Miki Arakaki, Yuyang Han, Keitaro Mitsuhashi, and Kaiyu Zhang. One student, Shoko Amioka, worked as a lecturer in DEALL for several years and is now a new PhD admit.
