Megumi Taguchi is dedicated to promoting Japanese language, culture, and arts through experiential learning and international exchange.
Megumi studied Fabric and Material Studies at Temple University, focusing on traditional Japanese kimono-making and dyeing techniques. She also earned an Associate of Arts degree in Fine Arts from Northampton Community College.
With over five years of experience teaching Japanese in both online and in-person settings across the United States and Japan, Megumi has worked with learners from diverse backgrounds and age groups. Her teaching approach emphasizes cultural immersion and student engagement, helping students develop both language proficiency and intercultural competence.
From 2022 to 2023, Megumi served as Coordinator of the Japan Cultural Program at Northampton Community College in Pennsylvania. She secured grants from the Japan Foundation to support the expansion of Japanese culture within the local community. She also developed a partnership with the Japan Society of Northern California through her work as a marketing intern. At Northampton Community College, she organized more than 35 cultural events, including kimono dressing, calligraphy, kintsugi workshops, and tea ceremonies, providing students with opportunities to engage with Japanese cultural practices.
After returning to Japan in 2023, Megumi worked as a Japanese language instructor and cultural event coordinator at World Unite! Japan. In this role, she supported international students studying and working in Japan through academic and career guidance.
From 2025 to 2026, Megumi served as a Visiting Faculty through the ALLEX Program at Hartwick College in New York, where she taught Japanese language courses.
Having traveled extensively throughout the East Coast of the United States, Megumi has dedicated her career to fostering cross-cultural understanding and promoting the craftsmanship, traditions, and artistic heritage of Japan. Her research focuses on curriculum development and the integration of game-based learning to create engaging, student-centered learning experiences that enhance student motivation.
