What students from SPEAC 2025 said about Level 4

“I would not be where I am in my Japanese studies without the SPEAC program, and this is especially true with Level 4. I’ve had the privilege to participate in both Level 1 and Level 4 SPEAC, and though I did learn so much so quickly in both, I saw progress that I never expected to be possible in Level 4. With such a small class size, SPEAC felt less like a class and more like a study circle, full of engaged and motivated people ready to answer questions. It takes a lot of drive and accountability to stay on top of the work, but everyone in SPEAC knows that you aren’t taking it unless you have that drive. If you have a passion for Japanese and want to push your reading, writing, and presentation skills to the next level, there’s no better challenge than Level 4 SPEAC (SU24 LEVEL 4 SPEAC Participant)”

“My experience in the Level 4 SPEAC course was an invaluable opportunity for me to develop my skills in both in the Japanese language and in preparation to study abroad in Japan. Without this course, I am sure that my success in both studying in Japan and in the Japanese major here at Ohio State would be greatly diminished. I always recommend this course to my peers because there is nothing else that compares to the immersive learning offered with level 4 SPEAC and the immeasurable potential for language and cultural learning that comes from it. I am, and will forever be, grateful for this resource and for the amazing people that make this course possible. (SU24 LEVEL 4 SPEAC Participant).”
