Standard Japanese at the elementary level, with emphasis on building & applying basic language knowledge in doing things in Japanese; exercises in oral interactions & interactions involving text; introduction to the Japanese writing system. Not open to native speakers of this language through regular course enrollment or EM credits, or to students with 3 or more years of study in this language.
