The Japanese Program welcomed students back to campus with its annual Open House on August 24, bringing together approximately 35 students, faculty members, instructors, and teaching assistants for an afternoon of conversation and community building.

 

As the beginning of a new academic year can be both exciting and overwhelming, the event offered participants an opportunity to connect with others who share an interest in Japanese language and culture before classes were fully underway. New students met classmates and instructors for the first time, while returning students reconnected with friends and members of the program community.

 

Throughout the event, attendees enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere filled with conversation, laughter, and opportunities to learn more about the Japanese Program. Faculty, instructors, and teaching assistants were available to answer questions and share information about courses, study-abroad opportunities, and upcoming activities.

 

One of the highlights of the gathering was seeing students from different levels of Japanese-language study interact with one another. These informal connections help foster the supportive learning environment that has long been a hallmark of the program.

 

The Japanese Program looks forward to another year of language learning, cultural exploration, and community engagement. We thank everyone who joined us and wish all of our students a successful and rewarding semester.
