Congratulations to Seth Wiener!
Congratulations to Seth Wiener on his recent promotion to Associate Professor of Second Language Acquisition and Chinese Studies in the Department of Modern Languages at Carnegie Mellon University. He is currently also their department's Director of Graduate Studies. Seth received his Ph.D. from DEALL in Spring 2015 (Advisor: Marjorie Chan; Co-Advisor: Shari Speer, Linguistics), and has been teaching at CMU since August 2015.
Seth does research in Second Language Acquisition, Phonetics, and Psycholinguistics. He serves as Associate Editor of Applied Psycholinguistics, and an Editorial Board Member of Chinese as a Second Language. His recent publications include "Non-native disadvantage in spoken word recognition is due to lexical knowledge and not type/level of noise," and "Searching for the “native” speaker: A preregistered conceptual replication and extension of Reid, Trofimovich, and O’Brien (2019)." Congratulations, Seth!
