Joey Smith, DEALL graduate student (Advanced Chinese) who just successfully defended his MA thesis on how citizens’ perceptions may affect the design and execution of the water conservation project “sponge city” through a case study of Wuhan, has been working as one of the main facilitators, coordinators and interpreters for a series of meetings and conferences between OSU and Wuhan University leadership and professors leading up to this year’s OSU-WHU co-sponsored Earth Day event. 

Joey was a Chinese major and BS/MS in Food, Agriculture and Biological Engineering (FABE). By May 2021, he will graduate with MA in Advanced Chinese from DEALL and completing the first year of his PhD in Environment Science in OSU.
