Teppei Kiyosue, DEALL Japanese language lecturer, won the coveted ASC Provost's Award for Distinguished Teaching by a Lecturer on March 2, 2020.  The award was presented at a surprise classroom visit by Dr. Bruce McPheron (Executive Vice President and Provost, OSU).  Dr. Helen Malone (Vice Provost for Academic Policy and Faculty) read excerpts from over 130 pages of student testimonies regarding Kiyosue's record of teaching excellence, noting that the theme of "devotion to inter-cultural teaching"  was a common thread. Out of 3,000 OSU lecturers, 6 awards are given each year.  Faculty and staff from DEALL and Hagerty Hall who attended the surprise visit included Dr. Mark Bender (DEALL Chair), Dr. JJ Nakayama, Dr. Naomi Fukumori, Dr. Zhiguo Xie, Ai Terada, Debbie Knicely, and Charlie Boss. $5,000 cash was included in the award, as well as written recognition of accomplishment.
