John Christopher Kern was hired as a visiting assistant professor of Japanese by the Department of East Asian Studies at Oberlin College. He recently completed his dissertation entitled, "Changing Perspectives on a Classic: Pre-Modern Commentaries on the First Chapter of the Tale of Genji," and will graduate in Summer 2014. He will begin his appointment at Oberlin College in the Fall of 2014.
