Modern Japanese Literature and Culture Position

 

OPEN-RANK TENURED/TENURE-TRACK POSITION IN JAPANESE
 
The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at The Ohio State University invites applications for a tenured/tenure-track position in Japanese Literature and Culture, Modern period, beginning Aug. 21, 2013. Evidence of a strong research background in one or more of the following areas is preferred: modern literature, broadly construed, visual media, particularly film, the history of popular media and its impact on cultural imagination and values, and such contemporary media as manga, anime, and modern drama/performance. The ability to teach modern Japanese literature at the undergraduate and graduate levels is required.  The successful candidate will be expected to contribute actively to cross-disciplinary research and teaching and be responsible for general education courses in literature in translation, culture courses, new media-related courses, as well as graduate-level courses and advising graduate students.
