Networking event to connect students to real-world advice from alumni, employers

DEALL

As a student of Chinese, Japanese, or Korean, have you wondered what skills you will need to thrive in the real world? How can fluency in an East Asian language give you an edge on the job market? Isn’t there something about life beyond college you have always wanted to know about … but somehow were ashamed to ask?

Come to join DEALL’s virtual networking event 4-6pm on Wed., Apr. 6, and connect with a group of DEALL alumni and prospective employers to hear what advice, perspectives, and experience they have to offer. This event is organized exclusively for students majoring or minoring in Chinese, Japanese, or Korean (and students considering such a major or minor). Pre-registration is required to receive the Zoom link:  https://go.osu.edu/deall_ntwk

Four DEALL alumni representing Chinese, Japanese, and Korean, and representatives from some high-profile employers will attend the event to provide helpful information on career success:

Alumni:

Lee Johnson ’12 – Data Specialist at Nationwide

Sam Richards ’15 – J.D. Candidate at Tulane University Law School

Laura Zobre ’15 – IT Project Manager at DOmedia

Chuling Peng ’20 – External Auditor at KPMG (Japanese Practice)

Employer representatives:

Darren Srebnick – Director at US Commercial Service

Carol Stephenson – Academic Outreach at National Security Agency

Allosious (Al) K. Snodgrass – Talent Acquisition Specialist—Early Talent at Sherwin-Williams

Cassidy Groharing – Manager, Campus Programs at United Airlines

Anyone who requires any accommodations such as live captioning or interpretation to fully participate in this event, please let us know accordingly. Requests made two weeks before the event will generally allow us to provide seamless access, but the university will make every effort to meet requests made after this date.

ASC Center for Career and Professional Success provides partial financial and staff support for this workshop, for which we are deeply grateful.
