Dr. Zhiguo Xie (Associate Professor of Chinese Linguistics in DEALL), along with Ms. Fang Liu (Senior Lecturer of Chinese at Oberlin College), has been awarded a grant from the Ohio 5 + OSU Mellon Language Enrichment Program, to organize a workshop on collaborative Chinese language and linguistics teaching amidst the current crises. The one-day workshop, to take place virtually in October 2020, aims to bring together Chinese language and linguistics faculty from Ohio Five colleges and Ohio State to: (i) brainstorm and understand best practices of teaching Chinese language and culture in the current environment; (ii) discuss the development and delivery of courses in Chinese linguistics and sociolinguistics; and (iii) enhance and expand collaboration on general course material development among Chinese language and linguistics teachers at the six Ohio colleges.
