Ziying You, a Ph.D. candidate at the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures, advised by Mark Bender, won the Center for Folklore Studies Post-candidacy Fellowship in Autumn 2014, and she will have a semester free of teaching to pursue dissertation writing. Ziying examines the role of "folk literati" and temple activists in reconstituting locally rooted national traditions in contemporary China.
