This course offers an introduction to qualitative and sociolinguistic study of bilingualism and biculturalism involving the Chinese language and culture. Topics to be covered include lexical borrowing, code switching/mixing, bilingual education, bilingualism in media, bilingual language acquisition, language attitude, as well as language policy and planning.
