Makayla Cherry teaches beginner and intermediate-level Korean language courses. She is an instructor for classroom track and individualized instruction programs for the Columbus campus, and online Korean language courses for Newark campus.

Makayla’s personal research revolves around North Korean film and its role in North Korean society. She has recently co-authored two articles, “Cheollima, Ten Times Faster? The Gangseon Steel Mill and the Cultural Turn in North Korea’s Mass Mobilization Campaign” and “Son'gun Cinema: Portraying the Ideal Soldier in North Korea's Military Genre Film.”
